These beautiful teapots are made by Fuukidou from Tsubame near Sanjo in Niigata prefecture by a single maker in his workshop. Copper are hammered into shape and lined with tin. As time passes, with regular usage, a patina will develop making it more unique. So using it regularly as opposed to just leaving it on the shelf is highly encouraged!

Please be aware that these are not kettles and should not be used as such. So no direct flame contact, microwave etc... They are made strictly to brew tea. The typical way to prepare tea with this item is as follows:

  1. Boil water
  2. Pour a little boiling water in the teapot to warm it up
  3. Pour water out
  4. Put in tea leaves
  5. Pour in hot water
  6. Depending on the tea you might need to rinse the leaves before serving the initial cup

Warming the teapot first is not strictly necessary, so you can simply put in the tea and pour in the hot water directly. Just use it at your own convenience.

Before first use, please wash it using a soft sponge with a mild detergent and rinse it very well. After use, simply dispose of tea leaves, rinse it with boiling water and leave it opened to dry completely before storing. The tin lining will get darker with use which is normal.
