Finger Stones and Naguras

A nagura is a small stone you rub on your main stone to build slurry. It makes the stone cut faster and gives you more control over the finish. Tomo nagura is cut from the same type of stone you sharpen on, Tsushima is a good all round one that works on almost anything.

Finger stones are for polishing by hand — Uchigumori, Kiita and Jizuya. They are used on knives and on Japanese swords, not on razors. This is what brings out the contrast and the details in the Jigane and the Hagane after sharpening.

The flattening and surfacing stones are here as well, for keeping your stones true. Asano Mikawa naguras show up here too when I have them, which is not often. Email me if you are not sure what you need.
